Hi guys, I'm moving to the oberon/bathurst soon and was trying to find equipment shops in the area without any luck, does anyone know of any? Cheers.

If there's none i might stock a few things like pans, sieves etc in my homebrew shop.

None that I know of in Bathurst, Mudgee is your best bet out this way. Wheres your home brew shop going to be Matt.

It's in Bathurst Stevo, the country brewer on Russell st, I take over the reins hopefully in January, thanks mate, Ill look into what I can stock that locals need.

I think Aussie Disposals in Bathurst hold some gold pans etc.
Hard to believe that a place the size of Bathurst & its location to the goldfields hasn't got more there especially in the way of detecting gear.
The Mudgee shop is a Minelab dealer so don't know if they would certify another dealer in the area?
A NSW Whites dealer would be an interesting option?

I stopped at Bathurst last year and tried to go to the Prospecting store I found online. It's closed. Stocking a few items in your home Country Brewer shop would be a great idea. Good luck with it.

Is that the store owned by Mr Noice? if it is I worked with his son steve for about 8 years.

Thanks guys, I'll order my sieves and pans online, I would've preferred to support a local shop. If I were to stock it wouldn't be the big ticket items like detectors, just a few small things, maybe a few more if I get a larger shop, what do you think would be the basics?

Yes it is stevo, good bloke

Id be looking at picks pans classifiers specimen bottles snuff bottles spades/shovels geologist pick hammer the list goes on..

Thanks, we'll get on our feet with the brew and food side of things first and I'll look into prospecting gear.

Yep he does , You'll have to drop in to try one of mine one day mate.

Hey Matturbo,
Was looking at buying a still from Country Brewer but ended up doing the research and building my own one. What do you think?

Very nice, a lot more work in it than my simple pot and thumper set up! What are you running through it? I ran my first all grain single malt scotch last month, it's shaping up to be quite nice.

Thanks Matt,
Because its a valved reflux still i run sugar and turbo yeast. Mash comes out after fermenting at 18-20% and one run through the still gives me 96% firewater. Then i dillute it down to 40% and ive made Bourbon, Butterscotch Schnapps, Irish Cream, Sambucca, Rum etc by using the flavourings. I have to make a pot still head so i can make real scotch and sourmash Whiskey by mashing grains. Do you have any recipes?

This one was 60% pale malt/ 40% peated malt, I mashed the same as my beers at 66', then brought it to boiling for a minute and chilled, I'll end up with maybe 4L final product, but I know I wasted a fair bit figuring my system out. I haven't used my reflux for a few years, I better soon because my wife is complaining she's out of shnapps and creamy chocolate

I'm going to give my dad a bottle of scotch to put away for my 40th, so 7 years ageing .

Your reflux is a thing of beauty
