Port Douglas - day trip

Hi Guys,

Me and the misses are heading up to Port Douglas for a week (to a resort). We are leaving in a few weeks.
I was looking at some maps and realised the Palmer River is up that way (I have never been to North QLD before).

I was thinking about taking the SD 2000 with me - maybe hire a 4WD for the day and do some prospecting...

I was wondering if anyone had any good locations up that way - a few hours drive from port douglas? (we want to be able to get back to the resort the same evening)...

Any suggestions?

You are keen mate, every time I head up there I have trouble getting away from the balcony at the yacht club.

If I had the chance to spend a couple of days on the reef or a couple of days on the Palmer I would take the reef every day of the week.

All I can suggest contact the Palmer River road house. Be prepared It'll be very very hot.
