Pitting on Silver Coins (Florins)

Found these 2 florins right next to each other (on separate days :8 )

Cleaned them with bi carb on the finger and noticed the pitting on the coins. Not much longer they look a bit rusted /pitted/tarnish!

Does this occur sometimes? Surely not from bi carb?

They looked ok when first done, maybe there are imperfections in the surface from sitting in the ground or next to another metal?

I'll try a re clean. I know they're not valuable, just first finds so would like to keep them without them corroding away.
 
Are some of those small dots raised? a bit odd if they are.

I have one with a bit of gravel rash pitting, possibly from a car driving over it at some stage in its life.

Yeah they are, raised and still silver. You can see it near the date on the '53. Seem strange for that to occur unless it was from manufacture.
