Yeah they had it tough, never seeing their families for months and not only looking after the Lines they had to maintain the Tracks and cut down the trees and sapplings along the track, I can't see many opting for that life style these days.

Yeah he gives the impression he's a down to earth guy, It's a great account of his journey and he did it all without the gadgets we take for granted today, The track now is not a 10th of what it was back then when he did it and like he said those FJ40's were little more than a Tractor with a better seat,

I was going to do it in 87 but the mate who was meant to come along dropped out so there was no point in going on my own.
