Stevie Wright, Easybeats lead singer and Australian rock legend, dies:
One of Australia's best loved rock stars and the lead singer of The Easybeats, has died aged 68.
He had fallen ill on Boxing Day and passed away in a Sydney Hospital on Sunday night.
The Easybeats best well know song that rocketed to number one on the Australian charts in 1966 was "Friday On My Mind" Stevie was born in Leeds, England in 1948 and came to Australia with his parants when he was nine, living in Melbourne and then in Sydney.
He formed The Easybeats in 1964 at the age of just 16 with a group of other young migrant teenagers - Harry Vanda, George Young, Dick Diamonde and Snowy Fleet. Within a few years the band had become one of Australia's most popular musical groups, inspiring their own brand of Beatles-style fandom, dubbed 'Easyfever'.

Great 2 part doco on ABC tonight at 9pm . Its about Albert Records and the string of Aussie Bands and performers they signed up. Much of part one is about Stevie Wright and the Easy Beats.

Gaz

Im sure it has been Nump , well at least on foxtel. But for anyone that is a fan of Aussie rock from the 60's 70's 80's , like you said its well worth watching .
Are we just getting old or has music just turned to rubbish these days. ??
