Newbie needs help identifying

Hi all,

My main goal is gold but anything extra is a bonus.
Like learning about new things.

Brand new here. So I will say sorry now just in case I have put this post under the wrong category.

I was in megalong valley NSW today on a family day and walked down to a creek in a rainforest like area.
I was looking into the water, crystal clear.
I then noticed something I thought was plastic so I retrieved it out so I could discard it properly.
I pulled it out and it was a clear rock like glass. I'm now intrigued.
It's about 8cm long and 5cm wide
Can someone please help me?

Sounds like its possibly a quartz crystal..usually 6 sided

I think it probably is still quartz. Its a rather unique bit..I've found some similar and 'blobby'. Its very clear for quartz though..

Thank you for helping.
Its got me stumped.
I'd say it's been in the water for awhile just because of how smooth and how the bottom side is shaped.
Hopefully someone sees this post and can shed some more light on the rock.

Most likely it's clear quartz as Atom Rat suggested.

Follow this procedure to do a "Specific Gravity" test, if it comes in at around 2.6 then it is almost certainly Quartz.
