Newbie heading to Nundle.

Hello I am heading to Nundle in November for an event and would love to have a little go at Gold finding.I don't have a detector and was thinking of making a little sluice box. I have an idea of where to go. (don't you all).
I am not sure how often I will get to Gold finding but would like to enjoy some time having a crack.
ANY tips.
