New to prospecting from Cooma, NSW

Gday,

Am new to the whole prospecting thing. Bought the mine lab GM1000 to give it a go. Not really interested in trying to make millions, just happy to find a coin, button or badge and have a good time. Located in Cooma, NSW. Have a few spots to start around Kybeyan. Just trying to find the time to get out there.

Just be aware a lot of the forest areas around Kybeyan are under NSW NPWS control. These include National Park, State Conservation Areas & Nature Reserves. In general prospecting, fossicking & metal detecting is not permitted. More info on NSW here:

I’ve got access to 2500 acres with boundaries on certain areas. We can see old diggings and tailings piles from our side, but the threat of prosecution for a bit of fun kind of outweighs everything else.

Thanks, haven’t been out much. Have checked Showgrounds and found a few dollars, been to Cowra Creek and picked up a few old plates and cutlery. Going to try old sale yards paddock at north end of town
