Mount Perry

Can anyone tell me if it is at all possible to obtain a "small gold mining lease" in the Mount Perry region? Are there any specific fields or areas where I might set up a small lease, etc.? I am of course talking about simple gold prospecting, fossicking and wanting to set up a base camp if you will.
