Kato and I take a 140km trip to check on last years Anzac Day project.

Some may remember that Kato found a WW2 RAS badge, a few years ago.
She researched it and that led her to a very long path of discovery, finally bringing us to speak to family members.
This saga has still not completed.

In a way it bonded us to the recipient of the badge, and we decided to expand this to respect all those that served and are buried
at the Murray Bridge Adelaide Road Cemetery.

So on Sunday we took another road trip to visit the Cemetery and check on our work, assess the standard and do a some more headstones.
Bonus for Kato, more driving hours on her learners permit.

We arrived and it was hot, really hot and a bit humid.

Checking the Monument we were amased at the result, below are before and after pics, 9 months and the Marble is very clean, all that had to be
done was to use a stiff brush to remove dried and dead bits from weather protected surfaces. Just as described by our Veterans Affairs friend.

You can't touch the lettering it is so fragile, but we are working on that problem too.
However the flat surfaces or area's where the lettering has already gone are fair game, mild scrubbing with a soft bristle brush, mild bleach, rinse,
apply approved chemicals and leave.

Some results are just outstanding.

Now was it worth it ?

YES, in every way, it is fulfilling work, and does not take much effort, by Anzac Day this year we should be done with the 80 marble headstones,
and dozens of the basic bronze plaques.

Kato is working towards archeology/history/research/journalism

Thank you guys.

We really appreciate the kind words.

It's not for showing off, but to display that we can all make some difference, even a small one.

Mainly with Kato it is about respect for Gerald that she has gotten to know a little from just one piece of his life.

She has learnt so much from being involved in the breadcrumbs of history.

What a great hobby this really is !!

Fantastic job and congratulations.

You have an amazing daughter, Greenhornet.

Not enough young people understand respect such as this deep respect Kato is showing for someone she never even met, but feels as though she knows him now because she took the time to follow this one piece of history that belonged to him.

What a fantastic hobby indeed when it leads to such terrific good deeds and great respectful character building.

I know from my investigation into Patrick Dunlea's grave and learning about his two brothers, that led to cleaning John's neglected grave at Scarsdale, that this is a very worthy project and indeed increases one's respect for those who have passed but are not forgotten.

Well done Kato (and dad for the great support) keep up the great work!
