Just a thought, the old Chinese hats? Unlike the western style hats that use a brim around the head. Some modifications and it could be used with headphones??? :Y:

I've had this Funnelweb hat for a few years. It had a good brim that is parted to clip around the earphones. It also has the Legionnaires type protection down the back. The only problem is that after washing the brim becomes floppy so Mrs M sewed a bead of 3mm plastic welding rod on to the perimeter to keep it stiff.

It's rotted away now as everything does in this climate but while away in the Pilbara last time I cut the crown off a Bunnings bucket hat and stuck it inside. It's a bit heavier now but shades me well.

Try the detecting shops . I seem to remember hats been made with slots for head phones .

I bought my Funelweb hat from Reeds. They still sell them, one of the best purchases I made. Works well with headphones, and the neck protector will stop you getting sunburned while you are bending over digging. :Y:

I had to do this to my hat though with a waterproof texta. I'd forget about that damned spider embroidered on it, and every now and then when I'd pick the hat up I'd forget about it momentarily and think it was one of those creepy southern funnelwebs on my gear

G'day

I use the Kalahari type hats, it gives good protection at the sides and has a flap at the back to protect your neck from sun burn, you can close it up around your face if the flies are bad and they don't like to come into the front of it so I very rarely have to wear a fly net as well, also its made from a thin breathable fabric with added vent holes, and I wear the headphones over the outside giving an extra bit of comfort to the ears but you can still hear well enough. :perfect:
