Hi. I have a friend coming to visit from interstate and he won't be bringing his GPX on the plane. He has decided to hire a GPZ 7000 for the couple of days we are going detecting in lieu of buying one in the future. Would anyone be kind enough to share some settings with me/him so its not a waste of time. Much appreciated.

Suggest stick to the default until mastered. The Z is very capable at default, I run it there for first month with excellent results. Tis a magic machine.

If your hiring from a shop they should run you through the basics but agree with Norvic above. Stick to defaults & maybe just fine tune the tone, threshold & volume to suit.

make sure you do the ground balance with the ferrite in the area you are going to detect, remind him it is not the same procedure as the GPX, if you do like suggested above you should have a good experience. happy hunting. :) cheers
