i bought one last year. very good pick. the leaf spring its made from takes the jar out of digging, especially when hitting bedrock.

Hi bluecurrant..
I was contemplating making one from some old leaf springs I had laying around but it seems to be much thicker steel than the one you have.Mine would be 8mm thick..Do you think that is to thick. :Y:
Cheers SB.

Would just like to give a shout out to the bloke that makes them.. Very happy with this product and very well made.. Had the privilege of opening up a two foot hole today and it did it with ease... Iv had cc picks, walcos and in my opinion it trumps all. I would highly recommend it.. Thanks again mate... :Y: :Y: Eluvial

Thanks for the tip Eluvial. I have just purchased one on eBay. Can't wait to get out and use it after I have purchased my detector.

Happy Prospecting :D

smoky bandit, its the weight of lugging it around that governs the size. if your strong it wont be a problem. and 8mm steel would dig a hole pretty quick if you can swing it. :power:
Hi Guys, Thanks for the kind words still making heaps of them, Smoky bandit 8mm is to thick you will never carry it around, Go to the 4x4 shop get a front spring from a land cruiser there about 5/6 mm, be careful when welding dont let it cool down to quick, I berry them in lime slows the cooling or sand will do,When you weld the ring on for the handle if you can pre heat before welding if the weld goes red it will pull out, Cheers, Ron.

Cheers Thanks Ron
I thought 8 mm may be to thick.. :Y:

Good on you Ron for offering advice. Your picks are excellent. I have the biggest one ( I must say I got a shock when I first saw the size of it ) :D but it is a top digger. I run a concreting business and the boys will grab that before a mattock if theres any digging to be done. ??

Good onya Ron.
I've tried many picks in the goldfields, but yours are by far the best.
The flat sides (top to bottom) make loose top material removal very easy, whilst the fluted sides make material that much easier to remove from inside the digs.
Both well thought through and brilliantly made mate!

I used my new pick that I bought from Ron on eBay last week. It is fantastic. Makes holes in the ground quickly (even hard ground) and I find the weight just perfect for digging.

Thanks Ron!! :D

Hi Ron I've also got one of your little brother picks. I was going to ask you to make me up a larger handle for it.

The pick size is great but I wouldn't mine a little more length.. no pun intended lol

I've got one of these, and I must say.........effin' great!!!!
Makes short work of digging big holes.
I'm impressed.
Keep up the good work!!

I made one modification to mine, found the timber handle not oval enough to use all day , hands ached after prolonged use so I fitted and old fibreglass axe handle to it, now its easy an grip , single or both hands, its easier to buy than try to make on lol
