Getting serious for gold.

Hi all,
My wife loves crystals and gems and we've found Amethest, quartz crystals and garnets.

But I've always been more interested in looking for gold. I purchased a couple of gold pans and sieves a couple of years ago and have found a few pieces of shot but havent had a lot of time to get out.

Now I have finally saved some money to purchase my first detector and plan to get out to a few local spots. My new job is opening up more time to get away.

I've got a good lead on a bargain Gpx 4500, so hopefully I'll be out there soon.
