Hi Ftroop,welcome to the forum.Have to agree with Marksman,watching Wal&liz video's will set you on the right path.Regarding the wooden sluice, I tried that and it warped the first time I got it wet.Try and get hold of some 2mm aluminium sheet.

Welcome aboard ftroop, I think the alloy ones are supposed to be lighter to hump through the bush and up the creek, research first will save you time money blood sweat and tears ,..... you may be able to make something that folds into a backpackable item just to make life easier (maybe).
Hope this gives you an edge on the competition ftroop (ha).
