Sapphires and zircons can be found around the Grabben Gullen area near Crookwell, also at Oberon.

GUYS!!!

We went fossicking in Paddy's River(Tumbarumba, NSW) a week or so ago and found a little blue gem not 100% on what it is and my little guy found two interesting stones, we think they might be Topaz but not 100% either can I please get some opinions from everyone?!

The blue one on the lid is what I found

The two in my hand are what my little man found

The small container is just a mixture of pretty rocks I found and had to keep haha!

Thanks guys! :D

Top pic is an opaque sapphire commonly referred to as a bomb sapphire, rest I'm pretty sure are quartz.

Some really nice sapphires come from that area so keep at it. :Y:

Anything catch your eye in these pics?

I think its sapphire and zircon get a similar mix at Grabben Gullen,Parson's Gulley suggest you invest in set of carot scales about $20.00 on ebay, any weighing above 1c are worth sending for cutting to Lamberts in Thailand.Above 5c be a job for a good Aussie cutter. Your on the right stuff might have to dig a bit deeper.Oh and the opaque black ones are Black Spinel a good indicater for sapphire in this area.
