Today I went out for my first search at one of the local beaches.
Found heaps of trash 3 lead sinkers that I gave to a fisherman that was fishing nearby and $1. It was interesting to listen to all the different tones that get given out and when I did find the coin it had a definitely different sound. The camera lens looking thing gave off a number of around 33 which had me wondering what it was cause all the trash was lower numbers and the coin was 21.

Good start, one dollar is better than no dollars! Think the ring might be a filter that you screw onto the front of a camera lens .

Definitely a start to beach detecting with the solitary $1, could do a lot worse - as long as your are learning the tones and having fun, that's all that counts. :Y:

I still remember that thrilling 'clink' sound when my trowel finally hit a coin in the sand. You never know what's down there.
