Great idea, but my only concern would be the possibility of sustaining a laceration or needle stick whilst dragging your exposed hand through the sand. I'm sure the risk is very low but still something to think about.
 
If only...... would give them to my kids but by the time I find a target they would be nowhere to be found.
 
nugget you better think again about how likely it is to get a needle. I walked over 3 in less than fifteen minutes once on a beach. I use long handle scoop so scooped them up & put in bin, as council don't have needle safe bins in area. I did not stay on that beach that night I went home, but have been back many times since.
Thinking about it now putting them in bin wasn't safe either as council worker could be pricked empting bin.
