Couple of new coins to look out for.... :p

Any 2019 Coat of Arms 50c (both old and new effigies of the queen)

2019 5c with the new effigy of the queen

Had a look this evening at some 5c & a few 50c.
These are worthy.

2019 aboriginal language 50c
Roll ender find

Sometimes I get entire rolls that are all new coins
1608303434_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-31-59.jpg

They are all 2020 5c
1608303509_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-32-20.jpg

Also found a 1972 5c
1608303587_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-32-33.jpg

And a skunjy looking 2016 5c roo
1608303749_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-32-45.jpg

It has a saving grace though....
Roo Chin Cud
1608303835_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-33-23.jpg

And this 2015 5c is a reverse die clash
(I think that's how it's said)
1608303945_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-33-34.jpg

You can see how when the die's clashed with no coin in between them, the queens hair is now showing as raised lines.... but it is reversed and it is the low bits now showing as raised.... sort of like a reversed negative image
Showing in the next two images

1608304333_screenshot_2020-12-19-00-34-02.jpg

there will be more of these to be found by the very observant noodler :p

Also..... found this 2015 missing SD in the same hunt.
1608339228_screenshot_2020-12-19-10-46-54.jpg

You can see the SD is not there (should be underneath the 5.)
1608339377_screenshot_2020-12-19-10-47-10.jpg

It also has cuds on the toes of the left foot (not easily made out)
1608339465_screenshot_2020-12-19-10-47-24.jpg

One of the biggest giveaways by sight though are the cuds on the toes of the right foot.
1608339545_screenshot_2020-12-19-10-47-37.jpg

This coin can also be found as just the cuds with the SD still there (so the loss of the SD happened last in a line of events)

Happy hunting :p

Another look through $100.
Low mintage 1972 5c
1609126182_screenshot_2020-12-28-13-11-22.jpg

an even lower mintage 2016 50th anniversary of the changeover 5c
1609126282_screenshot_2020-12-28-13-11-33.jpg

another one to look for (even lower mintage) 2019 JC 5c (getting very hard to find now)
1609126418_screenshot_2020-12-28-13-12-29.jpg
and a 5c not worth collecting (unless it's to show people junk) a drilled coin
1609126536_screenshot_2020-12-28-13-12-45.jpg

I also kept a few nice 2020 20c nose cud coins
1609126612_screenshot_2020-12-28-13-13-29.jpg

the nose cud is in centre frame

be interesting to know if anyone else is finding anything worthwhile ? :D

Silver no 1966 20 cent coins in your collection with a slight wave is there? Keep a look out for them
I'm keeping an eye out shakergt. I have a maybe one somewhere... but l check every 66 20c that goes through my hands specially for the wavy 2 base line and for rotation and lamination... actually I rotate every coin right way up that goes past my eyes to check for rotation... it's pretty amazing what you can find that you would normally just throw back into circulation. I do have a couple of rotated 2010 50c that I have found that way, other ones too but I'd have to look as memory evades me atm. But thanks for bringing that up for us all.... I'd best look to get a photo up now :D

Here's my 1966 Wavy 20c

Could be a claytons though.

1609406593_screenshot_2020-12-31-15-46-59.jpg

It's a very interesting coin.... apparently some Chinese used to put marks into coins in order to check if they were silver.... maybe this coin was checked as the 50c was silver that year.
anyway heres the other side (it could be responsible for the two only seeming to be wavy)

1609406811_screenshot_2020-12-31-15-47-31.jpg

closer in you can see they are all marked from the same instrument /punch
1609406894_screenshot_2020-12-31-15-50-25.jpg

so... is it a wavy... or a special coin in history where it was tested but found wanting.... did that create the wave.... or is it both.

That is the question.(both things are special in their own right) :p

Earlier in the night at the close of 2020
one 50c roll stood out to me
turned out to be the only one in that roll
1609474481_screenshot_2021-01-01-14-12-02.jpg

but six Aboriginal language 50c coins all up for the hunt.... happy with that
here's the keepers
just one 5c out of two rolls (times are tough lol)

Hi Silver
These are the coins that I prefer to hunt for this one I found on a British Auction site that under valued it badly.
The 1983 British 2 pence coin with the earlier Reverse that has New Pence on it instead of Two Pence the reverse die was from 1981 a few coins were minted for mint sets before they realised the mistake around 50 coins. This coin has been graded and slab at MS67RD the single finest with on another coin graded at XF45. Now valued at well into the 5 Zeros until another is found and since the coin is nearly 50 years old that my be a while before that happens.
Finding one of these is like finding a gold nugget :goldnugget:

Mule above and normal coin below.

cheers deepblue

I'll be on the lookout for one of those myself now then deepblue. Were they only in those 50 or so mint sets ?

There were around 15,000 mint sets but only about 50 mint sets had the error coin which was made for a private company to retail.
cheers deepblue

I know very little about coins but if the above "2 New Pence" is worth 5 figure dollars why are some on ebay for a couple of bucks??

All 2 pence coins minted from 1971 to 1981 had the words New Pence on them. As of 1982 the words were changed to Two Pence. Fewer then 50 coins were minted in 1983 by mistake with the old die from 1981. The dies were changed and the rest of the coins (631,000) minted for 1983 had Two Pence on them. Ebay scammers rely on people not checking the date or circulation figures.

Okay thanks. I am learning.
Why is the 1971 2 New Pence going for 5 grand?
I have found several 2 new pence coins while detecting and tossed them in with my jars of Aussie 1 & 2 cent coins...I guess I better go check what I have got .

They aren't worth anything but 2 pence but scammers will try anything on Ebay. This is the best one that I have Single Finest Slabbed and graded MS67RD.
1609753653_optimized-197138309115.jpg

It might be worth a couple of hundred being the single finest.
If someone wants to pay me $5000 for it I would sell in a heart beat and laugh all the way to the bank.
cheers db

Had a bit of a noodle :p ....
Snagged a few goodies
1996 Parkes $1. with a double lamination on the obverse

A 2015 $1. Missing leg on 3rd Roo

Should be a second hind leg in there

A nice 2016 10c 50th Anniversary of changeover
1610076905_screenshot_2021-01-08-13-08-23.jpg

2019 JC 50c.... only 70,000 of these made... so a very lucky find

2000 50c Millennium fat letters 2

As the die got older and worn the edges of the letters got wider on the reverse of the coin

second coin is clearer
