Wow..im not sure i could drive at least 3.5 hrs to a dig site..But it payed of ..well done ...and nice photos :Y:

Call it more of a scouting mission, surprising how many good sites are found by blind luck just driving around the countryside. ;)

Don't know how I forgot this photo - doh!

Amazing find! Headphone looks cool! So original back phone's control disc clips on ya-?

That's correct, slip the controller off the backphones and straight onto these ones, Deteknix should sell heaps of these. :)

Did you buy it from overseas?

By the way, Can I ask? I was thinking about Deus again but I thought Deus lite as I do not understand all the functions of Deus( It is like trying to USe D-SLR menu)
It says all the control can be accessed by headphone remote but what about Pinpoint mode? I dont` see the pin point button on the headphone remote. Will you tell me please?
Thanks :Y:

There are certain features that come with the main control box that don't come on the WS4 remote, things like pro modes, pinpoint, no backlighting, and preset programs - hence the wording Deus "Lite". You really don't need the pinpoint function as it is pretty easy to pinpoint with the coil using the cross method, or drawing the coil back off the target - the rest can be done with a handheld pinpointer. :)

Another day, another hunt - and yet another 1800's house site I haven't visited for a fair while. Aside from the ton of shotgun shells (only some pictured), did pretty well in the end sorting amongst the iron targets from where the house remains had been pushed/dozed.

Notable finds were the 1877 Vic penny, 1900-1901 SA Dog tag, gold gilded decorative belt or saddlery piece, French suspender buckle, thimble and a couple of buckles. You know you are on an old site when you start to find those very small percussion caps from muzzleloading firearms (pictured below the .22 cartridges). ;)

I ended up purchasing a small dedicated waterproof/dust proof camera for detecting, easy to carry on my belt and very simple to operate. I simply bust too many phone screens whilst out in the field, hence thought a decent camera was more the go. Only problem is if I take any HD footage, I am usually too lazy or inpatient to download/upload the clips, especially to you tube. I still have footage I have yet to put on the forum from weeks ago, might need a lazy weekend for that. :)

Thanks Heatho, whilst the areas I detect aren't usually brimming with coins, it only take a single decent Vicky to make my day (more akin to looking for a needle in a haystack). ;)

Today Mrs Goldpick and I headed back to Victoria to revisit this site https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=332094#p332094, hopefully to pick up on some more finds. Unfortunately the weather was crap, dodging thunderstorms with a lightning prod in hand wasn't the best idea, though we did manage to get a couple hours in before the heavens exploded.

We really only concentrated on a relatively small area not far from the car, luckily a few coins were found with the 1920 shilling being the highlight of the day, and part of a silver cufflink. The other highlight was digging up a "spill" of huge Martini-Henry .557/450 cartridges, along with the projectiles in the same hole. These rifles were produced from 1871-1889, and were used in the Boer War, I think the police may have used them as well, though more likely to be the carbine version.

There were two types of cartridges found, the older rolled brass foil type (bottom left of pic), and the later and stronger drawn brass cartridges. The projectiles are simply massive, would hated to be on the wrong emd of one of these.

Mrs Goldpick had her G2 run flat and no spare 9v battery, so she ended up lugging the Fisher F75 around with the 13" Ultimate coil, at least she still managed a penny being pretty much a newbie on that detector. :D

Still trying to downloading field pics, damned bluetooth is playing up! 8.(
