19.1ct and 26.9ct Topaz cut by Doug Menadue in the " trouble with Tribbles" design
20.0ct black spinel cut in a "tuts pyramid" mounted as a pendant. Also cut by Doug Menadue of Bespoke Gems
Very happy with the end results.

He's a good cutter .. Takes pride in his work , like to meet him one day..stones look great , good finds and cuts ..:)

Lefty, the spinel came from Arba Creek 3km east of Branxholm on the Tasman Hwy. it's a good creek for Zicon and black Spinel. It's by far the best pice of blackjack I have found to date.

Amazing cutting by Doug and I too think spinel is under rated.
And those Topaz are just wow.

More opal action from Lee and I's lightening 2day visit to Lightening Ridge. Had some fun noodling on the Grawin dumps.

Quick question Colin, how does one polish an opal? I have one that has gone very dull and would like to bring it back to life

Hey guys,

@ Gallicprospector cheers mate, look forward to seeing some of your finished stones from the valley

@ Sa_bogan mate, I use cerium oxide on a polishing wheel, after I've used up to 6 other wheels with varying grit sizes on a cabbing machine. Maybe take it to your local lapidary club and see if some one can buff it up for you.

Cheers

Cheers mate just noticed one looks like what they call, "a fried egg" which means the colour doesn't go all the way to the edges of the stone. O'well up for a re cut

Cheers

New here but a couple of my favourite stones I have cut.
