    Panning today

Went out for a pan today - amazing amount of water has gone down the creek and moved a lot of rocks, sand, bank and my panning hole has gone. Wish I had a high banker - there is enough water still and plenty of places to dig too. Found some specs but hard work! Good luck to all. cheers David

Alert Madonna - no longer a Virgin!

The original piece was only about a 3/4 inch square - luckily the gold all stayed intact in the one piece. The photo makes it look bigger than it is - but its still pretty - in my eyes anyway. Thanks to all for the best wishes - next to buy a 4500 or 5000.

Alert Madonna - no longer a Virgin!

Finally broke my duck a week or so ago by finding a small bit with my recently sold 2300. After panning most of the day I ran the detector over the screenings and got a little peep like a shotgun pellet. After some looking I narrowed the target down to a small piece of quartz - but no sign of...

    Just about to start

G'day Bowman, I was where u are - about 4 months ago. Firstly its a lot of fun - always something interesting happening. Secondly, it's not easy finding a spot where 235 other detectors haven't been before you. So with petrol and other costs if you are doing it to make money u might be...

Oh god, not another newbie! HI ALL :)

I think a panning trip would be the go - nearly guaranteed to find at least a speck in the right spots - digging and panning can be hard work though. Good luck and enjoy.

    Enfield Vic information and questions

G'day Jwal, lotsa places to try - but my 2300 and I haven't been successful so far. If u only have a 2300 also then the shallow workings (geovic) seem to be the best chance but they have seen a fair bit of traffic. Good Luck

unpublished maps and reports bendigo area pre 1930s

Thanks - a lot of interesting reading. The depth of the mines amazed me - don't think my sdc2300 will go that deep - nor can I dig that far!!!!

    Enfield Vic information and questions

Thanks for the info - I had seen that too a while ago - but this comment - "Yeah enfield has some extremely steep slopes. Im not sure if enfield is alluvial ground or not because I looked around there and the chinese mines are very deep indicating that its deep lead." made me wonder if I'm...
