MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

I used one of these and trimmed it to size, then used a gp/gpx arm rest to clamp it on but then I found that someone had done this. which I thought is a good idea, they've just cut the top off the top of the original piece that was around the original shaft and used a gp/gpx arm rest.

    Manners in the bush.

It happens all to much these days. Mostly young fella's on the turps that think that they're funny and intimidate some poor single/couple either just for a laugh or because they want that spot and they know that's all they have to do to get it. It disgusts me because once they have had a few...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

My battery mod, I still haven't tested what run time I get now but should be an improvement. The battery and cable are GP (4pin) and I soldered wires onto the positive and negative inside the F1 battery compartment and onto the back of a plug that I bought off ebay. I didn't worry about the...

    3500 v F1A4 Jack Lange stage 2

Yeah like I've already said "k man" I would not believe everything I read or got told. I also own a Jack Lange one and it works fine. I was just stating what was said on the F1A4 Owners Australia facebook site, I personally think that Woody has them brain washed in to hating anyone else who...

    3500 v F1A4 Jack Lange stage 2

Not trying to start some sort of he said she said debate but I'm on an F1A4 owners page on facebook and Woody is on there, he doesn't build the F1's for Jack and bags Jack's F1's as some of the others on that page do (saying stuff like some of the pots aren't even connected). Now I personally...

    Advice on GPS units

I have a 62s and it hasn't missed a beat for years. I originally bought for when I was doing a lot of pig hunting etc... The selling point for me was that it is water proof same as my sat phone and hand held uhf. Anyway my 62s has the topo maps and is supprising the amount of old tracks that it...

    Flying Miners

I am a fifo miner, been doing it for nearly ten years and have definitely had enough. The mine is finishing up soon so once I'm made redundant that'll be it, I'll go back to being home every night and working normal hours at least I hope so anyway. I can't wait for it to end...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

I'm pretty sure that the original shafts are fibreglass/composite anyway so I wasn't expecting any difference in weight. I would've liked carbonfibre shafts.

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

The weight difference isn't much but with the control box back further it feels nicely balanced which to me feels like it swings smooth and easy. Also the other advantage is the coil mounts better than on the original shaft which was the only thing that I was not really happy with but now it's...

Just fit my F1A4 onto some fibreglass/composite shafts, man it looks sweet and it's more evenly balanced now. Love it... :D
