    Looking Over My Shoulder

Sounds like the perfect line for that classic quote "All the right gear, but no idea"

    Looking Over My Shoulder

Interesting reading - great thread. I have very few friends (even on FaceBook - LOL). It takes a very long time for me to genuinely trust other people. Bogger, I also have a great friend with the same name. Reading some of the stories above just reinforces things for me. One of my "mantra's" -...

What's your 'almost in the POO POO' story?

I love adventure and also trying to push the limits - you only get to live this life once. The unfortunate side is that almost every outing is an "almost in the poo poo" story. The plus side is that I never make the same 'mistake' again. Shit happens. It's how you deal with it, and what you...

Skidplate and coil tape - information and questions

Nice. I wish I was in the same predicament as you.

Skidplate and coil tape - information and questions

That white cloth reinforced tape sounds like the same stuff that was attaching the skid plate to one of my coils. That was the one that was a real bast@#d to remove. I'm not sure how long it had been on, but it was a real pain. I've bought a fair bit of stuff from Reeds in the past - with no...

    Headphones or Speaker

Yep.....They tend to turn up when you least expect them, and usually in places where you also wouldn't expect them to be. I've often thought about carrying the 45/70 across my shoulder but with the pick, etc I figure I am carrying enough as it is.

Skidplate and coil tape - information and questions

Sweet. Thanks for the tips. Looks like normal electrical tape is going to be good enough. Thanks for the reminder Whisp - yes, I've been there before - very frustrating.

    Today I BOUGHT

Nice work. I've bought (and consumed) a few of those in the past. Last I heard, they stopped making them - disappointing news.

    Newbie from the north

Welcome Pez. Great to see another member from the Top End. Best of luck in those hills mate.

Skidplate and coil tape - information and questions

I've just cleaned down my coils and removed the skid plates to give them a good clean down as well. I bought this gear 2nd hand and some skid plates were attached to the coil with tape, while others weren't. I did a quick search on the forum and believe that taping the plate to the coil will...

    Headphones or Speaker

I don't use headphones and have a booster/speaker combo. I have only ever swung my detector in very remote locations and it is generally very hot/humid. I chose not to use headphones purely so that I was also aware of the noises around me. Things like snakes, pigs, buffalo, etc are very common...

    Introduce myself

Welcome Geoff, I'm also looking very seriously at the same detector. Hope you are enjoying it and best of luck with finding the yellow stuff.

    Greetings all.....

Hi Juan, Welcome to the forum. You're on the right track so far - registering on this forum is a great start. Lots of reading is also a good way to pick up extra bits of info. There's also a pretty good range of DVD's out there that I have found helpful. Have you purchased a detector yet? By...

    Latest outing

Thanks Anolphart, I'll change my username once I start digging the right stuff. I'm hoping this will change when I head back to places like Cape York and Pine Creek next year. Regarding Disc mode, yeah, I was actually using a mono coil at the time so that would explain why it wasn't making a...

    Latest outing

Thanks Tim. I've tried a few times now. The site doesn't want to load for me, even if I just try and narrow it down to a state/territory. I'm doubtful that there will be any data on my location anyway.
