Your "4" decreased the length of the "+" sign's lines below and to the right of the intersection, and extended the lines above and to the left, whereas mine was perfect.

Ok jury is in and there are two correct answers both BigWaves does not equal sign and Jaross 545 are both correct . Jaross answer was the one I was looking for but BigWave got in by a technicality and extra points for finding that symbol. But in the spirit of smarty pants and good sportsmanship he has conceded the trophy to you Jaross . Over to you .

Walking past 10 equally spaced fence posts ,
it takes 5 seconds to walk from the first post to the second , it takes an additional second to walk to the next post and an additional second added to each post after that .
How long does it take to walk from the first post to the tenth ?

Yep...the first sum is correct. The second and third are incorrect.
The answer to the fourth sum is 19

There are two Correct answers to this puzzle
1+4=5 1x4=4 1+4=5
2+5=12 2x5=10 2+10=12
3+6=21 3x6=18 3+18=21
8+11=? 8x11=88 8+88= 96
As a puzzle both 40 and 96 are correct .
