Today I made a little recirculating clean up sluice out of bits I hadn’t used for a while. I had everything except the battery. I got a cheapie from super cheap that’s got 18 month warranty. I ran some concentrates from last weekend and I also cleaned out my pond in the front yard. I usually pan into it so I ran all of the cons from there as well. I need some more practise because there was about .3 of a gram in there. The Angus McKirk is a very efficient sluice as it caught the finest flour gold I have seen. I’ve got the gold in some Albright atm so I’ll post a pic of that later. Below is my panning pond. My wife just rolls her eyes when she sees me panning into it tongue 1565065910_8bda14b8-05a5-4bc2-b4b2-e2dafc5c6103.jpg1565065928_ea945dc1-6b45-40c1-be39-6bad658c97f3.jpg1565065944_46bf416c-e887-453d-85e0-fc7d9d335995.jpg1565065960_98dd4f48-263b-40df-b59b-cd9b7287c08a.jpg

Restored an old pocket knife. New burl scales, ground off that horrible, gimmicky, serrated edge and sanded all surfaces to remove dents and scratches. Finished off by regrinding a new edge geometry.

With Honours' recent arrival, a toy box was ordered by my daughter.. 4 hours later and approx $45 of materials and one toy box is completed.
Now to put three coats of Estapol polyurethane gloss on over the next week, so another $15 to $20 bucks of Estapol so for $65 plus labor a nice new toy box is made and I've spent some quality time in the shed.

Hi Folks,

Just finished some beekeeping work and decided it was time to clean up some of the drips of wax that had covered the bench and floor of the workshop.
1566631238_2b2541b2-7ecc-400e-9f2d-2faa0068ca30.jpg
Melted the wax down and strained it but it was too dirty to use in the hives. Decided to use it to make some dubbin as my detecting boots were looking a little worse for wear.
1566631405_a8478d63-d759-4e2c-a4fc-5819cb8b79f5.jpg
After a bit of research, I decided on a recipe that used beeswax, lard and coconut oil to make the dubbin. I had some containers of stock in the fridge so the dripping on top was scrounged.
1566631553_6e0df3f5-145e-4104-9082-2d54f70cb725.jpg
1566631553_4e1a19ea-bb0e-4c81-840a-55f653703449.jpg
Mixed the ingredients together, melted and strained it and then poured the liquid into a container.
1566631683_3607a15e-b178-4101-a901-f06243e48084.jpg
When the wax set, I gave the old boots a bit of a polish.
1566631758_92065d25-c582-4522-8908-a4ec0881e7b1.jpg
Now all of the neighbourhood dogs love me as I smell like roast beef.

Cheers

Les

When I renovated my current city house [1984] I used a piece of jarrah, 400 x 50, as a mantle piece.
After a fine sand I rubbed in natural bees wax which really highlighted the timber, grain and color.
Today it still looks like it did in 1985, no further coats added.
It has had countless cans, bottles, cups etc on it but just a wipe over sees it back to original.
