Help identifying?

Hi all.

Need help identifying this. My mother found it when moving house and apparently she found it when she was a young girl out near Coonabarabran/Narrabri area to her recollection.

Yeah I have gemstones and minerals of Australia book. Thought it may have been an agate. Obviously many different colour combos? None really resembled this one. Most have different coloured layers?

Loving the gemstones side of things. I'd love to find some good ones. Any links to where and what to look for? I kick around Eldorado a fair bit and hear there's Topaz, garnets and yellow diamond?
