Couldn't keep away from the old house site again, proves that a site is never hunted out (after a very tiring 6 hour hunt). Oldest coin was an 1840's half penny, probably the most toasted older copper I have ever found - was soaked in citruc acid till I could just make out a Vic sillouete and 4 on the date.

Best find was the 1919 Australian peace medallion issued to school children to commemorate the signing of the peace treaty. It originally comes silver plated over brass, and this one is in by far the best condition compared to others I have found.

Still plenty of assorted buckles, lipstick tube and a near complete pocket watch. The set of keys was an interesting signal with the ring being made of iron, as usual if in doubt, dig it out. ;)

That spot keeps on giving up the goods. Beautiful watch and I believe that the silver victory medals were only given to children of officers and are quite rare. :Y:

Did a few hours last night before the rain made things unpleasurable, very few targets to speak of aside from the odd piece of canslaw. Once again treading over the same ground looking for missed targets in a very large search area, with a 1911 hp starting off the evening. Took a fair while for the second coin (1951 roo hp), and probably another half hour before hitting on the silvers.

This is the second decent spill of silvers I have found in this park, with the previous found at the base of a tree - always exciting to run the deus back over the hole to find yet another target still remains. Ended up with a 1954 florin, 1951/1943 threepences and 1951/1936 threepences. Must have seen that coming after mentioning to the missus that it had been a while since I had last found a florin. :p

The tag I found is dated 1927 with an attached lead seal, and is labelled Elliott's Metal Co. Ltd, Birmingham - guessing for a load of copper weighing 18lbs. Have seen the same tags at railway sidings in the past.

Geez... I wanted to detect last night but everywhere was a muddy mess haha! Braver man than I!

Dont mind the cold, dont mind the heat, dont mind the dark, dont mind the rain... its being cached in mud I cant stand haha!

Great finds though, aside from 2 thrips in one hole Im still searching for my first decent coin spill

Tried an old haunt last night, clear sky, moonlit night, temperature in single digits, what more could you ask for. ;) Lots of junk to deal with, hence paid to be very patient and methodical with your gridding and sweep speed to pick out good targets. Nearly every sweep of the coil is confronted with a barrage of pulls tabs, so you really have to slow to a crawl to pick out the good squeekers from amongst them.

First good targets were the commonwealth hp's, both very deep and crusty, followed by the roo penny then another lovely florin detected literally right next to a metal rubbish. A few goldies kept me entertained for the rest of the night, plus the ever present but painful BB's. The Matchbox truck (No.58c DAF girder truck) is dated from the 60's, still fully intact aside from its missing load. :D

I have kindly received permission to go back on to an old house/public baths site again on the weekend. My partner and I have detected here twice in the past (2017), though conditions were less than ideal the second time around due to knee high grass making it very hard to get the coil to the ground. For a relatively small area it has produced a combined total of 55 coins so far, of which 36 were predecimal, so hopefully there are some still in reserve. :D

Second trip with high grass

Problem was once the grass gets to a certain height, the sheep in his yard won't touch it - already has a few tiger snakes in there. Fortunately the natural progression of the seasons has killed off the grass back to manageable levels. ;)

As promised Mrs Goldpick and I revisited a private permission including an old house site with an adjoining bathhouse - was very interested to see what was missed on the previous due to the high grass. Turned out we weren't disappointed, our predec tally has jumped from 35 to 60 after today's efforts, plus many buckles, militaria and relics.

Mrs Goldpick swapped over to the Makro Racer 2 with the small elliptical coil using the 3 tones setting (usually uses the Teknetics G2), and she did real well from the get go - the first coin and first dog tag.

I was using the Deus with the HF coil, running on 14kHz with fulltones, and reactivity of 2.5 for most of the day. To say the day was fun was an understatement, beautiful weather, short grass and damp soil made for easy detecting.

Managed to get only my second Oz shoulder badge and Rising Sun so far, and probably my favourite item for the day was the Horse Brass (depicting a horse head) - a first for me. Surprisingly only a solitary silver for the day, a 1936 threepence.

Have yet to go through all the relics and clean everything up, anyway, hope you enjoy the pics. :D
