Taking a bit of long service leave this winter and have July and August off.
Am tossing up, where to head. Have a 4WD and camper trailer and don't mind getting out to the middle of nowhere.
Just can't decide whether to head up to Nth Qld or over to WA.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Cheers Fizz,
I'm just about before the same decision NT, WA or FNQ. Waiting for someone experienced who's been at those locations and give us an advice perhaps where is a bigger chance to strike a yellow.I heard WA caravan park places are crowded with detectorists(in winter).

Word in WA is that after all the FIFO retrenchments, the goldfields are already crawling with hopefuls wielding GPZs:

I'd have thought FNQ was simpler, with numbers of stations now allowing pay per day access to prospectors - there's plenty of info here on the site:

Thanks for the info grubstake.
Have looked into Georgetown area, but also keen to have a look around Cape River and Charters Towers.
Originally from Townsville and family are still up there, so can nip out the reef with brother in law when the weather looks good.
Will investigate more about WA though.

Come to Mount Isa and head to WA with me :) Maybe a visit to NT on the way as well I think I'm heading off mid July, I'm just winging it. I went to western creek and palmer river last year WA this time. Going to do a few weeks halls creek for a while.

Hey Colmaca will be passing through Mt ISA around 5july heading to Halls Creek for a couple weeks detecting. Will start at HC, and then play it by ear. Born in MtIsa spent 25 good years growing up there. Will have a beer with ya if your keen.

I know a bloke who is heading over to West OZ he will be there in may & he is available for tuition on detectors, research packages & all sorts of stuff.
Real good bloke & no bullshit with him, what you see is what you get.
he is ex army semi retired sort of & this is what he does, I'm not trying to drum up business for him but if anyone is over there & you can get in touch with him he is more than willing to help out, depending on where he is you might have a little bit of trouble getting him straight way but he will get back to you. :)
