Hi
Im putting together a rocker box similar to
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_VNW2QVIFs

No pics yet

Now getting to the pointy end and Im looking at matting, using a riffle setup ( thanks Wal for your advice so far) with miners moss.

The questions are :

The choices are backed type of mat or open type of mat..??

What is better for a low water flow type of rocker and why (in your opinion)??

If the open style is used, does it need something like hog mats under it?

Thanks in advance

Bazz

I would go with the backed matting myself so the gold gets stopped before it hits the bottom and potentially works its way under matting ., but im a rookie if ever there was one, probably wait for some seasoned prospectors advice

Hi Bazz, I agree with madworld and use backed matting, reason is the fines get under the mat and cause havoc with raising the mat off the floor of the sluice and the flour gold will possibly wind up there too. I am using backed mat from Clark rubber and it works a treat...good luck
