i have a set of tactix bluetooth which i will test next week from bunnings $49 for the bud/neck type and $79 for the over ears, the over ear ones are excellent for useing when getting wood with my chainsaw so the bud ones will be awesome if ok as i sweat a lot and the minelab ones get pretty damp

The Tactix gear at Bunnings appears to be just cheap, basic bluetooth productrs, with no claims made about aptX or low latency, so they aren't really suitable for detecting purposes:

Minelab detectors, like the Equinox & GPX6000, that have a built in transmitter with the Aptx LL (Low Latency) codec are best matched to headphones/earphones that also have the Aptx LL codec to ensure you get the minimum possible lag.
Standard Bluetooth will work & some people find standard Bluetooth latency ok but it can be annoying to have any lag for others. Depends on how sensitive an individual is to it.
