I know there was a depot in Lavelle st Nerang, but guess that is further away than the ones you are looking for. I detected quite a few pre decs there before they built the shops on the site.

Hi old fred, Spent a few hrs searching and it seems that cobb and co didn't keep or publish much of their data. from what i can see this book has the most accurate data on the company, the edition in the link contains maps and retails for around $25, however you can hold it at one of the 4 qld libaries listed and borrow the book then photocopy the map. hope this is of help. Cheers SS.

Theres also this book:
Traces the rise and decline of Cobb and Co's operations in Queensland from 1866 to 1924 when the horse succumbed to the motor car. The author is the curator/manager of the Queensland Museum's Cobb and Co branch in Toowoomba http://www.thereallygoodbookshop.com.au/?page=shop/flypage&product_id=3529
Also, if you haven't done so already, the Museum in Toowoomba might be worth contacting?

Good luck with it.

Thanks mate .found similar .Going to check it out tommorrow if the land owner returns my call .(only left him a message this morn )

Another thing to think of on these trails.
They would stop either at the bottom of a hill or at the top.
Stopping at the bottom would rest the animals before the climb.
At the top they would then stop to rest the animals again before continuing on.
People would get out and either wander around or have a meal.

Strong piont Tathrad . Will have to look at the terrain more .Been looking at and researching for 6 months and have not looked at top of hills . Allways looked at the bottom of the hill where there might be shade or a creek that the passengers may have spent some time . Another interesting spot would be to find the exact location where the prospectors caught the stage from the Deep Creek area and the most southern stop at Gympie . The Deep Creek one is on private land but maybe the local tavern was on the east boundry of the GPA . It be right next to the fence line lf old maps half acuate .(good luck with that) .

If anyone wants the qld edition of Gold and Ghosts by Dehavilin i dont know how to put it on this site . Arrange a meet a nd copy my ztick and send it to whoever ..Live near Noosa

Cobb and Co were renowned for having the fastest travel time, look at the info you have on them it tells you the distance between each set of horses. The passengers would take a break at these depots and some of them provided meals. With time being the essence and holdups like creek crossings i doubt that they would have rested the horses at the top or bottom of every hill.

Old Fred....have you checked out cobb and co camp grounds at gympie...lots of history. .it was the first stop for the run from gympie to Noosa. ..was the bullocks stables...last time i was there i got to chatting with the owner...and he said i could detect certain areas of the 50 acre block...unfortunately i didnt detect. ..just drank Rum..lol

I remember getting quite a few pre decs at the Cobb and Co site in Nerang, before they built a row of shops over it.
