small gold

hi all, i am fairly new at this (detecting and forum). i swing a ml4500 withe a nf 17/11, agreat coil and very quiet but i am surprised at how small a nugget it will find. recently i dug a .11gr and 1 m away got a faint but clear signal, so i called my wife over with her 4500 with a nf 14/9 and as it should it was louder. on digging it out it was a tiny piece .09gr at 4-6 inches to say i was impressed is an understatment as i have been led to believe that a big coil is not sensitive enough on such tiny bits. what are your views. jim

Depends on the shape of the gold more than the coil in my opinion.
