......and following to the right i can make out an ANCHOR and maybe a PASSANT LION. The ANCHOR is the Birmingham Assay Office and the PASSANT LION indicates that the object is Sterling Silver (not plate)

Thanks Casper, its where I was finding my information from. Looks like it could be from between the 40's to the 60's and I'm sure its silver which makes it a good find both ways :)

I just had a look and I think your right! I'll have to see if I can bend it bad into shape and get it cleaned up! Thanks for looking into it Better than I did :)

No worries.... when i saw the Birmingham Assay Office mark i got very interested because my 5 times Great Grandfather was appointed in 1773 as one of the original 36 Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate in Birmingham. Go here to see who the current guardians are http://www.theassayoffice.co.uk/wroughtplate.html.

Thanks again and some cool information there. Looks like my cleaning to a bit of the mint marks off doh! To think that's been in the ocean for 200 years. Can wait to clean it up an make it shine again. Should also weigh it to see how much silver is in it :)
