Having just bought the Deus a new 11" coil i decided to see how good it would be in hunting out the pre cec coins, found a spot using Google earth it was 70 km from home and in the middle of nowhere's but there was a ruin in there, got the gps location and of we went.
Well to say it was in the middle of nowhere's was right, good tryout for the Suzuki Grand Vitara was spots where the tire ruts were so deep the Suzi was hitting bottom, must say i was wondering who would find us and how long it would be if we got bogged, but going in 4x4 and driving in low gear got us there.
What a lovely sight greeted us, buildings were still there but vandalised and graffiti all over. Couldn't get close to the front of the building cause the bees decided to build a huge hive on the front wall on one of the houses.
Cut a long story short ended up finding 5 penny's 6 half penny's 1 sixpence and 2 threepences plus a good assortment of brass which we took back to sell later on.
Was happy with the performance of the 11" coil though the coins were only about 4 to 6 inches deep the ground coverage was bigger then using the 9" coil and after swinging it for about 4 hrs didn't notice any difference in weight..
Next hunt will be a beach one..

Cheers Fox

That'd be a small straight 6d down Df,.... would've been a nice little place to live in it's day. :)

Great pics fox, looked like a real adventure to find that location, even more satisfying that it produced. :)
