Tried to sell a good opal to a friend , her jeweler said it was only worth AUD$4.000 only looking at a photo . Through a dealer friend it was sold in USA for AUD$25,000 . I have never told her how much it was sold for , she could easily have bought it for the price I was asking . She is my niece . Lot less than $25 k . I will tell her one day , before I kick the bucket .....
