A convoy of truckies will spend Australia Day carrying 2500 bales of hay from Esperance to help WA farmers battling drought.

Farmers Across Borders Ross Stone knows firsthand the hardship drought causes, having lost his family farm in Quairading.

With pastoralists across the State struggling with warm, dry conditions, he has spent the past five years trying to make sure it does not happen to anyone else.

I know how miserable it is when the bank manager shows up and kicks you off your farm its gut-wrenching, he said.

The hay doesnt fix the problem but it gives them a bit of hope.

Since the volunteer-run initiative started in 2014, more than 8000 bales of donated hay have been delivered across the State and country from Esperance to those who need it.

The next delivery is set for Australia Day, January 26.

Its all baled, its all stacked and ready to go, Mr Stone said.

But most of us are farmers, so we are flat out harvesting at the moment, so well do the delivery once that wraps up.

They will be visiting stations in the Murchison, Gascoyne and Nullarbor regions, and if other farmers needed help, Mr Stone said they could request it through the Farmers Across Borders. Hay from WA Facebook page.

Mr Stone also welcomed any donations towards the January run, estimated to cost about $500,000 in fuel

See this tonight. Looks like rain in some much needed places.
