I'm a Queenslander and I've been a rockhound since I was a kid. I've recently acquired a fossicking permit and I wish to engage my hobby 'in the wild', so to speak, as opposed to merely acquiring specimens from shops and lapidary fairs. I'm keen to start in the SE corner of the state on weekends, and later to be taking trips to Opal, Sapphire and Gold bearing areas throughout the state and NSW as my annual leave permits.

I look forward to engaging with similar minded enthusiasts and learning from the wealth of expertise I imagine members of this site have gained.
