I've fitted my F1A4 with a coil plug and a headphone jack. No problem there.
I've fitted a momentary button, to the handle, to use when ground balancing.
Now , my problem. I've wired this as in the following diagram, same as in
downhalo's post, but when I use the button the machine switches on, if off,
and off if on. Gotta be something dead simple but it's eluding me. The chassis
mount, and jack, are mono. I mean, this is only 2 wires for heaven's sake.
And the wires going to the PCB? Red is on/search, Blue is balance and the
bridged yellow is Common or so the manual says.
I want to be able to press the handle button and have this machine start
ground balancing. Not switch off.

This doesn't sound good at all, I've got an F1 modified with the basics.

I used the info downhalo posted.. It works perfectly for me.. I'll go open up my unit and check it out..
I can say however that your detector should NOT reset when the button is pushed.

I should add that Downhalo was the guy that installed my Quick track button. No other mods though. I wanted to keep it as stock as it could be.

Called him to ask.. He said the detector SHOULD turn on when off if the button is pushed. but should absolutely NOT turn off or reset when momentary button is pushed while the detector is running.

From inside my control box.. switch wiring.

Seem to have got it. Reversed the wires, leading to the socket, and everything behaves as it should.
Back, again, thought 'bout why would reversing 2 simple wires do anything.
Looked further. Bingo!
Socket shorting on the panel shield. Thanks for the info, subgram, sent me to the source.
Muchly appreciated and now everything is working EXACTLY as it should. :p

No worries.

When i called downhalo, first words after i told him the problem were, "Its shorting on something" followed by "This is why i don't mod other peoples gear".

Glad you got it sorted..
