An East Kimberley prospector says the mining downturn is forcing more people to go in search of gold to make ends meet.

Martin Ynema owns mining leases around the old Halls Creek town site, the birthplace of Western Australia's gold rush in the late 1800s.

We stayed at Martins place. Quite a character. He allowed us to prospect on his leases. He has a great big dry blower set up there.
It was great compared to in town with all the drunken loons.
