I work with the grandson of jack bray,who back in 1980 found a nugget weighing 267.5 ounces,they nicknamed it the golden aussie,they sold it to a casino in las vagas,also it appeared on a coin minted with famous nuggets on them.ive seen the family picks that where takin at the time.will try get one to post when I can,,so what's your claim to fame then??

No I't a fact mate.

My old man worked for the Public works department and he was in charge of the infrastructure for the opening and someone had to make the curtains.

Hi Jasonc2861. You still on touch with Jack Bray's grandson? Jack's wife Eva Bray nee Heath his grandmother was my grandfather's cousin. Would love to be in touch. I met Eva once when in a nursing home.
I've worked for many gold mine's in WA but never seen much more than small flattened nuggets in mills.

My original settlers (that is, those with my surname) settled at Terara east of Nowra and originally worked for the DeMestre family whose horse Archer won the 1st Melbourne Cup.
 
My claim to fame is Slim Dusty sang a song about me. Something about being the biggest disappointment in the family.
