Parks Victoria allows gold panning for those with a licence at Fourth Hill, off Gold Memorial Road. Only non-mechanical hand tools are permitted, excavations must be back-filled and vegetation must not be disturbed.

Yep read that BUT when you go to PARKS VIC website it been removed from the list of allowed parks for prospecting and all the maps have gone that showed the allowed areas in the park. And it only happened in the last 6 months or so.

Just noticed they have also dropped the gemstone prospecting only allowed PARKS as well. There used to be 6-10 parks that allowed for gemstone prospecting. They have all gone. From park vic allowed parks for prospecting.

Very confusing layful:
Probably best to contact either or both of them to clarify.
It's possible Parks Victoria have temporarily removed them for safety or other reasons. Should be on their website though?
If they've been removed altogether you'd think it would be explained & Earth Resources would be privy to the information?
A quick search on Anderson's Creek on the forum does indicate that other options would be better.

Won't be much use.
The only area that has been allowed for panning under a Victorian Miners Right (Earth Resources) is managed by Parks Victoria. The Council has no management on that area.
Other areas of Andersons Creek are off limits.
The Andersons Creek Landcare group would most likely welcome a close to fossicking/prospecting over it all.

6.8 Other activities
Prospecting
Parks Victoria seeks to manage prospecting in cooperation with prospecting clubs and organisations in a manner that protects the natural and cultural features of the park. Prospecting activities demonstrate a clear link to the parks association with the history of gold discovery in Warrandyte (section 5.2). Prospecting may be permitted in the park, under Section 32D of the National Parks Act.

The areas set aside for prospecting using metal detectors, hand tools, pans and/or simple cradles are in the bed of Andersons Creek, Stony Creek and Jumping Creek, upstream from the Jumping Creek road bridge (figure 2). Only non-mechanical hand tools are permitted for prospecting, excavations must be backfilled and vegetation must not be disturbed.
To date, the low level of prospecting in the park has resulted in little impact. Increased use may lead to damage of soil and vegetation. The Prospectors and Miners Association of Victoria (PMAV) has developed a Prospectors and Miners Code, which sets out guidelines for safe prospecting and methods to minimise the impacts of prospecting on park values.

Parks Victoria have confirmed the above from the Warrandyte State Park Plan of Managementis correct, it is still definitely open to prospecting/fossicking in the designated areas.

Ive attached the information on prospecting, and where it is allowed in the Warrandyte State Park.

Note that there is no prospecting permitted in the Yarra River where it flows through the Warrandyte State Park, however prospecting is permitted in three locations in the Warrandyte State Park (in particular sections of the Andersons Creek, Jumping Creek and Stoney Creek).

Hi to all, am a new member.

I was at Anderson's creek today, and I've got to know the area and said laws that go along with prospecting there, no high bankers or mechanical equipment.
This would include metal detectors being used in and around the creek, as I've seen alot of use by people and trashing the sides of the creek and taking them into the park,, including digging into sides of creek, whilst panning and detecting are allowed in creek bed only!!..
This is not on!!!
As it's going to STUFF it up for the ones doing the right things.
So a big fat thankyou to the ones not doing the right thing!!..
