A few more Ive been playing with and trying to learn a bit. The larger piece was given to my daughter by a bloke we met out at Grawin with strict instructions that dad didnt touch it. Sorry bloke but I dont follow instructions too well but had to polish it up a bit for her. :p

"Like" just doesn't seem enough - that is absolutely stunning!
Amazing job Wally!

And I have a soft spot for opals Bjay - love the darker blue one particularly - keep them coming! :perfect:

Very, very nice there Bjay :perfect: There's nothing that looks quite like nice opal :inlove:

Got to love those crystal growth rings :inlove: it looked fantastic when it hit the sieve after I yabbie pumped it out of the creek

At 7mm long, I think I will need to see if I can make a ring for that one.

Edit..... guess I have locked into the brain-fart now........ here is the before shot

Dont actually know what I am doing; just throwing some ideas into the silver, so it will be interesting to see if I can actually get the stone to set in the ring. Round ring ....... flat stone...... :argh: will it all turn to :poop: maybe......

Maybe not..... still a long way to go...... but decided to share some progress photos while I thought about the next step.

Picked up a couple of Ametrine roughs at a Gem Show on the Goldie, been tumbled so could see they were eye clean and worthy of a bit of cutting. Selected an interesting piece, 11.9ct:

Being long I was a bit limited as to the shapes I could use, but picked Arkavan's 'Hidden Treasure' which looked simple until I started cutting, with only single index increments there was a lot of texta being used to see where I was going, anyway I think it worked.

3.6ct finished, 14.5mm x 8.25mm

Hey Wally,
I am looking forward to the end result!

Dont hold you breath Mackka, think I learnt a few things that I shouldnt do. 8.(

Had some grander plans for the band but I ended up butchering the setting on one side to the point that I think I will start again.......gave it a polish to see what could have been

Anyway, this is where Mk-1 finished up. My $4.25 eBay special 925 ring stamp did the job :D but I used a bit too much force and just about punched it all the way through :playful:
