    Roads around Creswick (Slaty Creek)

Looking to take a trip to Creswick tomorrow. Does anyone know if the roads are affected at all by the rain over the last couple of days? I'm in a 4WD SUV, but it's not a "bush basher". I'll probably hang around Slaty Creek /Lincoln Gully areas.

Any Ideas what made this footprint?

Whilst out prospecting in the GT this week, I came accross a line of these footprints. Just a reminder that when we're out there swinging, we're not alone !! Any ideas what it may belong to? By the way, I'm asking about the one on the right :o

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

I cleaned it up using 9% Hydrochloric acid, then toothpaste, then Nitric (which didn't seem to have a great deal of effect,) then bicarb, then Hydrochloric again, then finished it off with the ultrasonic cleaner with a drop of washing up liquid and a dash of cloudy ammonia - worked a treat. Here...

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

My first ever gold find. This week at Creswick using my Nokta Fors Gold. It was covered in Ironstone and I didn't realise it was a nugget until I got it home and looked at it about 20 times. Eventually convinced myself it wasn't a piece of brass. STOKED !!!! It weighs 10 grams! Still needs a bit...

    My first nugget

So, I went to Creswick just over a week ago with my Nokta Fors Gold. I've only been into prospecting for about 3 months and I haven't had any gold yet. Anyway, I found the usual crap (bullets, shot, wire etc.) and I also found this piece of what I thought must be lead. It had some weight to it...

Makro Racer 2/Gold Racer wireless headphones

Today I bought a bluetooth transmitter for my Nokta Fors Gold from Jaycar, hoping it would solve the tangled lead problem I am continually experiencing. I connected the transmitter to the headphone socket and paired it with my headphones, but when I tried it out, there is about a half second...

Minelab X-terra 705 General Tips, Advice, Questions

dave 14110, thanks for that run down on the X terra 705. I'm also in the market for my first "real" metal detector (for goldfields use) and I am leaning towards this unit. I'm also considering the Minelab Eureka Gold at $1190. We're about to get the Caravan and Camping show here in Melbourne and...

    Hello from Melbourne !

Just signed up to P.A. and very excited at the prospect (pardon the pun) of getting into fossicking and prospecting. I know very little but I'm super keen to learn as much as I can to take with me on my retirement at the end of the year. Planning to make prospecting a big part of life as a "grey...
