Hi AtomRat. Slag is one thing I'm thinking it is. As I'm new to this I'm not sure what it is or isn't. Popular theories are Basalt, hematite and magnetite. I just don't know. - Josh

Looks like regmaglypts which is a good sign, it's not too smoothed but still... Get some sandpaper and rub a corner down and hopefully you'll find Iron.
