    Ross Creek State Forest

No worries at all- I lived in Mount Helen for ten years, great area. By Mount Clear I meant the bushland off Tinworth Ave - (from mount Helen you turn left at the roundabout onto Whitehorse Rd then right down Tinworth ave- heaps of old workings in the bush to the left here all the way through to...

    Possible Meteorite?

Definitely a hotrock- I found heaps of these in Talbot a couple of weeks ago- bit of a nuisance but a good sign there is gold around. I did read an article where someone smashed one open and there was a bit of gold inside so I always check mine just to be sure!

Very interesting find - but no idea what it is

Sounds like a good plan- If that fails I'll take it to Sovereign Hill they have a large tobacco collection in a glass case from memory. I can concur with the hoarding and if it wasn't for your information it would have gone in our 'unknown relic' draw for sure! I'm stoked even if it turns out it...

Very interesting find - but no idea what it is

I'm amazed by it too I think you push the sides in and fix it to the top of your pipe after lighting. The holes allow for the smoke to escape without the Tobacco falling out while you're moving around. I can't find anything else on it though might be a rare find!

Wow how cool thank you very much Wally you have made my day- we thought it was a brooch until we cleaned it up. Might donate it to the local museum I think.

Very interesting find - but no idea what it is

Today I found this interesting trinket about 20cm below the surface near some old workings on a sheer basalt rock face. It has a spring inside- if you push both ends the spring contracts. It is stamped with the following: A PERCY PATENT GLASGOW BREVETE S.G.D.C Any Ideas????

Engraved metal object- interesting- but puzzled at what it is!

I think it might be a bit too small for that it's only about 10cm :)

Engraved metal object- interesting- but puzzled at what it is!

Thanks for your replies guys- nothing on the back. The way it fits together and the edges make it seem like it only has two pieces.

Engraved metal object- interesting- but puzzled at what it is!

While out prospecting near Linton Victoria, I came across this engraved metal object about 1 foot below the surface. It was in two pieces and had what looked like light green rust. After taking it home to wash it I found it had part of a bird engraved on it and a flower. It's very heavy- any one...
