    roman numerals

Thanks Axtyr, that does explain it. I have seen other 'one tenth of a pound' coins that have a clear x and v in the date but they must not be using the gothic font, I will have another look at some more examples. Cheers Mark.

    roman numerals

Yeah I was happy with the first one a couple of years ago at a mate's place [so that one is his] I hadn't heard of a 'one tenth of a pound' coin before that, and then only a couple of weeks ago the 1856 one turned up, along with 3 shillings for good measure. Yeah happy days.

    roman numerals

So if you find an old coin sometimes the only way to date the coin is to know your roman numerals. as I understand it m=1000 d=500 c=100 l=50 x=10 v=5 i=1, but I have recently found 2 'one tenth of a pound' florins that have me scratching my head showing the numerals r and b. The one on the left...

    GP Extreme coils

hi all, a friend of mine has just picked up a gp extreme and was asking me about mono coils that would be suitable for this very capable machine, it has a 5 pin coil plug but they only came with dd coils. I am in the dark as I still only run my 4500. Thankyou for any responses as I am sure...

    Test Site Revelation!

so in regard to the 4500's I wonder if it was a case of the coils making the difference or the age of the machine. there is an ideal chance there to swap the coils on the 2 45's and see what the results tell. b.t.w. I run an old 45 with the coiltek 14'' and very happy with it but if the nf 12''...

    oppo mobile phones

I ended up buying an oppo A53s for $380. and to date am pretty happy with it. As I have said before I am a tech Neanderthal but this thing is fairly user friendly has heaps of stuff I find interesting, but will probably never use, however takes good photos easily, gets good signal reception, has...

    Diesel heater for your caravan.

g'day nightjar, I have installed a cheap knockoff a few years ago, had 1 small electrical issue, fixed easy, I've gone with the 5kw unit and mounted the control next to the bed, so 15 mins before we go to bed and 15 before we get up is all it takes, no overnight running at all. They flatten...

    X terra 705

At the moment I am in Cairns but do most of our detecting in Wedderburn / Dunolly one year then Leonora / Laverton the next, covid times excluded. Between Mrs GH and myself we have a 4500, 5000 and an sdc and of course the 705. My first gold machine was however a SD 2100v2 which I found my first...

    X terra 705

I would update the machine as it does struggle on the goldfields even with the gold coil. Keep it though as the 705 is a very good coin and relic machine for on the beaches, parks and old sites. We started with a Exterra 50 long ago but it was never intended to be our gold hunter and so when we...

    oppo mobile phones

Thanks Dihusky, some new phones battery only lasts a day and a half from the start so I think that's pretty good. I am not really up with tech stuff, but why do you run 2 sims.

    oppo mobile phones

Hi everyone, I am about to update my phone to bring myself into the 21st century. I don't want to spend a lot of cash and don't require a lot of tech crap I will never use, but I want a good camera memory and battery life. in at officeworks they have an oppo A53s for $235, it has 128gb memory...

    Minelab GPX5000 vs GPX4500

Hi Dukes, I run an older 45 with the coiltek 14'' mono elite in enhance timing, the better half runs a 5000 with a 12'' nf mono evo in fine gold, and I know there are a huge amount of other variables in this comparison, like, experience, technique, time on ground, reading ground and distance...

    4500 Making A Ticking Sound?

Had a mate come over yesterday with a problem with his older 4500. It was making a ticking sound coming through the headphones sounding like an electric fence shorting out on wet grass, so we packed all my spares into the car and went out for some tests. So first up we did a factory reset, no...

Detector Depth Testing - Larger Gold

I agree option 3 would be my preferred choice and also I think lead is a better option as well. Not wanting to make it too hard for you Nenad but could you make lead copies of 50, 5 and 10 cent coins for this test that way we would be all familiar with the size and could easily replicate if we...
