Status of Creek reports at Tuena

Try south of the Bookkeepers cottage. There are layers of clay in the creek that will hold the passing alluvial. Dig down and scrape horizontally along the top of the clay. Puddle that up in your pan.

Action Thread about HighBanking in NSW

According to NAPFA in 2017 To our knowledge there has never been an infringement or prosecution, despite regular field inspection of activities by NSW Fisheries, Parks, DRE and local government staff. This further supports our view that the intention was never to curtail very low impact, short...

    I AM OVER IT

Yep EBay is flooded with poor quality batteries and shonky sellers. Maybe Battery World can order in what you want. At least you have some comeback and save the headaches. :/

New to fossicking... but keen to give it a shot

Specific Gravity test help - Gold and quartz

A bit late at night to do the maths but I found this. I guess youve used the same formula. The Specific Gravity Test is used to calculate the gold content of gold nuggets that contain a mixture of gold and other materials. In this example of the specific gravity test, we use gold mixed with...

    Wafting for easier gold

That's a high tech version of my `viewing tube'. Food for thought though with many waterproof cameras now available. There's potential there for a proper tool with current technology. :perfect:

    Wafting for easier gold

The flow has to be right as well. Too slow and youll get the leaches. Wearing ladies tights will stop them latching on. Not a good look though.

    Wafting for easier gold

Panning sluicing or digging holes in a creek bed can be back breaking work. I was shown a technique from a bloke now in his 80s to get the alluvial gold with little effort. Maybe you use a similar method yourself but if you dont heres what we did. The creek has to be in the right condition...

    New to Prospecting

Know a scammer when I see one. Dont waste your time in providing advice. Prospecting for something other than gold and gems. Mods should close this one down.

Switching from metal detecting to alluvial prospecting

I normally metal detect for gold but it seems theres an easier way by alluvial prospecting. Just pick up the nuggets with a trowel and pan them out. I know its not this easy but I thought I would share a link for those struggling to find a colour. Just to wet your appetite...

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

Well done roxydog21. I reckon I detected one from the same area, years ago. It took me many hours to find it so you did well to get on to the larger pieces.
