Go all the way to the end of the beach, then about 100 to 200m around on the rocks. Be there for the bottom of the tide and look for small rock pools at the low tide mark. Hand digging may be required, so have some good gloves and be prepared to get wet. Some rock pools will have spiky sea...

Lefty, the spinel came from Arba Creek 3km east of Branxholm on the Tasman Hwy. it's a good creek for Zicon and black Spinel. It's by far the best pice of blackjack I have found to date.

    Wire mesh for seives

Yep had that thought a while back but its every second strand that creates the weave. If you removed every second wire you would be left with loose wires that just moved all over the place.

A man of your talents won't have to much trouble next time your over there. BTW the bloke at Deep Bite Cafe, known locally as deep pockets cafe wasn't being cagey, he honestly doesn't know anything about the fossicking. He's an ex-fisherman and going by the questions he hit me with after my...

    Wire mesh for seives

Yep sounds about right. Well outside my price range. I have settled on exactly what I want, a 13" aluminium sided sieve with 3/16 sainless mesh. Reasonably widly available up until 6 months ago when they stoped making them in Australia. Now it's all imported stuff and they don't make that size...

    Wire mesh for seives

I gave potsnplants a ring today after having trouble with their website. Sadly out of stock of 3/16" sieves and can't get anymore in as the Australian manufacturer stopped making them. They couldn't compete with imported products. This is the same story I got from the miners den about three...

    Wire mesh for seives

Yep Ex I hear you a 3.5 would take a little more care to centralise but there would be only half as much material to sort. I run a three sieve stak, 1/2",1/4" and 1/8". The 1/2" means I don't get a lot of stone in the 1/4" but it is all of a similar size and can be centred quite well with a...

    Wire mesh for seives

Howdy Ex, Haven't seen them but they will probably be the standard 1/8 & 1/4 sieves. What I'm chasing is a mesh size half way between the two. Eg 3.5mm apature.

Would the waders be of any benefit in the creek, are there deep holes?

    Killiecrankie diamonds

Howdy Miguel, I'm off to Flinders on Saturday for the week and I had a few questions. Is it worth taking the 1/8 sieve or just the 1/2 and 1/4? Also should I stick to mine creek or would you give the bay/diamond gully prefrance? Thanks
