Dropped in to the bend on Saturday, just about every hole I saw in the forest was full of water. The creek at porters was very high, and the place was the busiest Ive ever seen it in 6 years of digging there. :argh:

Without the spinel, 220ct. I only kept it if it came from the 1/4 sieve. Trying to upload photos but its being difficult

Smashed my own record! 280ct of gems today. Biggest sapphire going 2.7, biggest zircon about 1. I also found a 12ct black spinel! :D

I got out to Oberon with the missus today. Last time I was out here I eyed up a new spot near one of the public areas. I gave it a crack today and oh boy, by the end of the four hour session, the two of us managed to bag over 150ct of zircon, sapphire and spinel! Biggest sapphire went 4.10ct...

Ive found a few flecks of gold in the pan from sapphire bend, nothing substantial. You pick up zircon, sapphire and the occasional quartz crystal. You guys have me hungry again, might have to brave the cold sometime soon!

Ive pottered around in the running stream creek a bit but never found anything either. Theres a few very likely looking bends and bits of bedrock along it, but Ive never come up with something for my efforts there!
